The promise

What you'll actually be able to do.

By the end of this specialization, you know how to support a person toward a performance that matters to them, in sport as much as in an exam, on stage or in a high-stakes talk, without overselling it or coloring it with magical promises.

You situate what mental preparation is and what it is not. You conduct a performance interview, you set sound objectives, and you assess both what the person can lean on and what holds them back. You equip the regulation of activation and attention, you build confidence and you prepare them for the deadline, and then for what comes after. And you hold, from start to finish, the boundary with care: you spot what goes beyond your scope and you refer wisely, because mental preparation is neither treating distress nor pushing for performance at any cost.

  • Situate mental preparation, its fields, its principles and its limits.
  • Understand motivation, engagement and the development of potential.
  • Distinguish mental preparation, coaching and care, and refer wisely.
  • Conduct a preparation interview and set sound objectives.
  • Assess the person's resources and obstacles.
  • Draw on techniques for regulating activation and attention.
  • Design and lead performance support over time.
  • Support the peak of performance, recovery and the transfer of skills.
Prerequisites

What you need to start

Hold a diploma as an autonomous professional practitioner, Synodeo's Coach program, or an equivalent credential recognized at the positioning diagnostic, and show evidence of a first support-work experience. The Mindful presence specialization is a useful foundation. The positioning diagnostic checks these prerequisites before enrollment.

The program

A path built step by step.

01

Understand performance and potential

Situate what mental preparation really is, its history, its fields and its limits. Understand what sets a person in motion - motivation, engagement, the strengths to build on. And draw the decisive line between supporting a performance and treating distress, with the signals that call for referral.

02

Assess, frame and equip

Conduct the performance interview and phrase sound objectives, telling apart what the person controls from what escapes them. Read their resources and obstacles without crushing them. Then draw on techniques for regulating activation and attention, chosen for the person and the moment.

03

Support over time

Design an individualized program sequenced up to the deadline. Build confidence, focus and the handling of pressure. Then support the peak of performance, recovery and the transfer of skills to other situations, holding everywhere a watchful eye on the person's health and balance.

One example of method and one case-study excerpt per module - taken directly from the program's courses.

01

Understand performance and potential

Foundations and fields of mental preparationMotivation, engagement, potentialMental preparation, coaching and care
Method in focus

Turning a magical expectation into realistic objectives, without breaking the momentum: you don't manufacture a winner's mindset, you name capacities to nurture rather than a switch to wait for, and you set the limit of performance at any cost from the outset.

Case in focus

A young judoka turns up demanding a winner's mindset, the way you'd order an off-the-shelf program. The practitioner refuses to sell the miracle, taking the time to lay out what mental preparation can really do, and sends him off no longer as the customer of an effect but as the partner of a piece of work whose terms he holds.

02

Assess, frame and equip

Performance interview and sound objectivesThe person's resources and obstaclesRegulation techniques
Method in focus

Sorting the controllable: distinguishing outcome, performance and mastery objectives, and bringing a vague request back toward precise, measurable targets, centered on what the person actually holds in hand.

Case in focus

A manager wants to handle his stress and be flawless in front of his executive committee. Behind the phrasing, the practitioner gathers the real stake - a fear of judgment rooted in an old failure - and swaps "impress them" for reachable objectives: hold his opening, keep his breathing steady, get three messages across.

03

Support performance over time

Individualized, sequenced programConfidence, focus, pressurePeak performance and afterward
Method in focus

Building a plan sequenced and periodized backward from the deadline, with if-then plans for the critical moments and light follow-up to adjust, laying the foundation before the weak point and preserving sleep and recovery.

Case in focus

A candidate has the tools but fears scattering herself two months out from the exam. The practitioner organizes the time that remains into a progression pegged to the date, with prepared responses for the moments of panic, and turns a massive, shapeless worry into a marked-out path.

Condensed, anonymized excerpts from the program's case studies - for teaching purposes, not transcripts of real sessions.

How it works

100 % remote, at your own pace - never alone.

A fully remote, asynchronous program whose core is practice: the performance support work you carry out is worked on, not merely read about.

Online learning

Content available at any time: material on performance and potential, conducting the interview and setting objectives, regulation techniques, building confidence, and annotated case studies where you follow support cases unfolding in full - including the moments when you need to know how to frame, slow things down and refer.

Personalized coaching

A Synodeo mentor supports you over video throughout the program, to the tune of two hours included, alongside unlimited e-mail support. On a subject at the boundary with care, they pay particular attention to one point: the refusal of performance at any cost and the holding of the boundary with care, session after session.

The black book

You document in it the performance support work you carry out during the program, with the reflective analysis you draw from it: what you observed, what you decided, where you hesitated. What you set down in it, you go back over aloud with your mentor. It's the matrix for your diploma.

Lived practice

No validation on paper alone: your diploma rests on real support work you have carried out, framed with accuracy, equipped with discernment, and known how to keep in the right register, from the first interview to the transfer of skills.

Assessment

Validated by your practice, not by an exam.

Continuous validation

Your practice exercises and the support work you carry out are followed and validated across the program by your mentor. Two further components come in: a reading report on a book from your field, and a filmed mental-preparation interview that you analyze from watching your own session.

Final validation

Using your black book, you present a mental-preparation support case you have carried out, with the reflective analysis you draw from it, defended over video before a Synodeo mentor. The assessment focuses on the soundness of your framing and objectives, the relevance of your assessment and of the techniques drawn on, the way you led the work over time, and your ability to hold the boundary with care and to refer.

Diploma & certification

A proven diploma, solid recognition.

At the end of the program, Synodeo awards you the diploma of Practitioner in mental preparation and potential development. It doesn't certify attendance: it validates competencies actually demonstrated in your black book, tested in real support work and developed with your mentor, right up to the final deliverable.

Synodeo designs its own curricula and runs the entire certification process independently. This independence guarantees the consistency between the teaching rolled out step by step and the validation of competencies at the end of the program.

The same rigor runs from the first case study to the final defense: the diploma puts the school's own responsibility behind the quality of your training and of your assessment alike.

Frequently asked questions

What people often ask us.

Who is this specialization for, and what do you need to take it?
For the practitioner who works with athletes, prepares candidates for a competitive exam or an assessment, or supports people exposed to the stage and public speaking. It assumes a diploma as an autonomous professional practitioner, Synodeo's Coach program or an equivalent credential recognized at the diagnostic, and some prior support-work experience. The Mindful presence specialization is a useful foundation. The positioning diagnostic checks these prerequisites before enrollment.
Is mental preparation a matter of method, or of magical promises?
A matter of method, and honesty about the promises is held from start to finish. You don't manufacture a winner's mindset or a miracle switch: you help a person give their best on the day it matters, working on precise levers - confidence, focus, handling pressure, recovery. The program teaches you to tell a realistic expectation from a magical one, and to reframe a request without discouraging the person.
Where does the boundary with care lie?
Mental preparation is neither treating psychological distress nor pushing for performance at any cost. The program teaches you to distinguish mental preparation, coaching and care, to recognize the signals that call for referral - anxiety that overflows, entrenched distress, risky behaviors - and to refer someone to a health professional with tact, without breaking the bond. This line is worked at every stage, with particular attention to the person's health, sleep and balance.
Do you have to work with athletes for this specialization to be useful?
No. Mental preparation applies well beyond sport: to assessments and competitive exams, to the artistic stage, to public speaking and to high-stakes professional situations. The principles at work - framing a performance request, setting sound objectives, regulating activation and attention, building confidence and preparing for the deadline - hold for a candidate, a leader or an artist as much as for an athlete.
