The promise

What you'll actually be able to do.

By the end of this program, you understand what hypnosis really is - beyond the myths and the stage show - you can explain your practice in simple words, and you conduct your first well-being sessions using direct suggestion.

You establish the ethical framework of your practice, identify your limits of competence, and know how to refer to other professionals when necessary. You take your place as the first link in a structured curriculum that can take you all the way to Master Practitioner.

  • Understand the nature of hypnosis, its historical landmarks, and know how to explain it while moving past the myths.
  • Identify the components of the conscious/unconscious mind and recognize a subject's signs of receptiveness.
  • Practice within a rigorous, safe ethical framework, and know how to refer at the boundary with care.
  • Prepare and induce a trance with a basic induction.
  • Formulate a simple direct suggestion and conduct a safe trance exit.
  • Practice self-hypnosis and teach it to a client.
Prerequisites

What you need to start

No academic or helping-profession prerequisites: this program is designed to be accessible starting from zero. Synodeo relies on personal maturity and stance. Genuine curiosity about hypnosis and availability for personal practice (self-hypnosis, observation, first cases) during training.

The program

A path built step by step.

01

Understanding hypnosis

Before any technique, an understanding to build. You explore the history of hypnosis, from Mesmer to Erickson, key concepts (altered state of consciousness, suggestion), and learn to present them in simple words - able to explain your practice to a rational, skeptical client and defuse common misconceptions.

02

Framework, ethics and safety

A practice without a framework isn't professional. You explore the ethical principles of helping hypnosis, the limits of competence, the distinction between well-being and care, the legal framework, a contraindication checklist and a referral protocol. You learn to obtain informed consent and how to say no.

03

Conducting a simple session

The operational heart of the program. You discover suggestibility tests and basic inductions, learn to deliver a direct suggestion and conduct a safe trance exit, and discover self-hypnosis - the kind you practice yourself and the kind you teach to a client.

Understanding hypnosis

History & definitionsMyths & misconceptionsConscious, unconscious & signs of receptiveness
Method in focus

Reading the cluster of signs: breathing that lengthens, a face that smooths, stillness that settles - never an isolated sign, always a cluster compared to the person's starting point. Naming what you observe reassures the person and deepens the state at the same time.

Case in focus

A skeptical husband, brought along almost by force by his partner, announces he'll give it exactly ten minutes to be convinced. The practitioner gives up trying to prove anything and offers an experience rather than a demonstration: the provocation falls away, and the session opens without a duel.

02

Framework, ethics and safety

Ethics & scope of practiceContraindicationsReferral to care
Method in focus

The contraindication checklist: distinguishing absolute situations (severe psychiatric conditions, active suicidal ideation) from watch-list situations (ongoing treatment, pregnancy, unexplored pain), and referring in three steps - validating the request, stating the limit, indicating the right professional.

Case in focus

A client on anti-anxiety medication asks hypnosis to replace her medication. The practitioner separates what belongs to the doctor (the treatment), to care (the anxiety disorder), and to well-being (everyday stress) - and agrees to work only on the third part, subject to medical agreement.

03

Conducting a simple session

Induction scriptsDirect suggestion & trance exitSelf-hypnosis
Method in focus

Switching entry points: when an induction doesn't take (fixation, five senses, breathing), the practitioner never forces it and never concludes the person "isn't receptive" - they remove the pressure and offer another way into trance.

Case in focus

An eye-fixation induction produces no effect on an otherwise willing young engineer. Rather than insisting, the practitioner defuses the tension and shifts to an imaginative induction built on a memory of calm: trance sets in within a few minutes.

Condensed, anonymized excerpts from the program's case studies - for teaching purposes, not transcripts of real sessions.

How it works

100 % remote, at your own pace - never alone.

You train entirely remotely, at the pace that's yours: the program stays accessible for twelve months from enrollment, and no one imposes a schedule on you - but you never move forward without support.

Online learning

Content, methods and tools are available around the clock, on the device of your choice. Every concept is tested through exercises and case studies with commented feedback.

Personalized coaching

From day one, a Synodeo mentor follows your progress over video. They review your first sessions, watch over your stance and safety. Two hours of video coaching are included in the program, alongside unlimited e-mail support.

The practice journal

Your first real sessions are logged and analyzed there: what you prepared, what happened, what you take from it. It is the raw material of your reflective report.

Lived practice

Nothing rests on theory alone: from this very first level, you learn by conducting real sessions, within a framework that protects the client as much as you.

Assessment

Validated by your practice, not by an exam.

Continuous validation

Throughout the program, self-corrected validation checkpoints mark your progress, and your case studies receive individual feedback from your mentor. Your practice journal, fed by real sessions, is reviewed and commented on at regular intervals - with particular attention to respecting the framework and the boundaries of the scope.

Final validation

This level is validated through knowledge checkpoints and a reflective piece drawn from your practice journal: this stage lays the foundations, the next one has you working unsupervised.

Diploma & certification

A proven diploma, solid recognition.

At the end of the program, Synodeo awards you its professional diploma. It doesn't certify attendance: it validates competencies actually demonstrated in your written work and your first sessions, tested in the field and developed with your mentor.

This diploma is part of a dual-recognition model. On one hand, a professional certification backed by an external professional body, which situates your competencies against industry standards. On the other, a professional diploma awarded by Synodeo, which puts the school's own responsibility behind the quality of your training and assessment.

Synodeo designs its own curricula and trains with full pedagogical autonomy; professional recognition, meanwhile, rests on a third party external to the school. The same rigor runs from the first case study to the final defense.

The curriculum

This level in the program.

Technician is the entry point of the Hypnosis curriculum: it's designed for those starting from zero or wanting solid foundations before going further. It's also a complete program in itself, leading to its own diploma. The Practitioner level will then open up work on the most requested issues, from stress to sleep to smoking - and if you already have a foundation elsewhere, the positioning assessment can direct you straight to it.

Frequently asked questions

What people often ask us.

Is hypnosis dangerous?
The hypnotic state is a natural state, close to those moments of absorption everyone experiences. The real issue isn't the trance - it's the framework in which it's conducted: informed consent, identified contraindications, respected limits of competence. That's why safety takes a central place from this very first level, with a contraindication checklist and a referral protocol toward healthcare professionals when the request goes beyond well-being.
Can everyone be hypnotized?
Receptiveness varies from person to person and from moment to moment - that's an observed fact, not an obstacle. You learn precisely how to recognize a subject's signs of receptiveness and adapt your approach, rather than applying an identical recipe to everyone.
Can you really learn hypnosis online?
The knowledge, yes, obviously; but hypnosis is a gesture, and a gesture is learned by doing it. That's the whole logic of this program: remote content, but real practice required from the start, supervised over video by your mentor and logged in your practice journal. You're never certified on what you've read - only on what you've practiced.
Do you need to be a doctor or psychologist to practice hypnosis?
No. The helping hypnosis that Synodeo teaches belongs to well-being, not care: you don't treat pathologies in it. In exchange, this boundary must be known and rigorously upheld - knowing how to say no and refer to a healthcare professional is one of the competencies validated at this very level.
Professional recognition

A programme recognised by the IACTM.

This programme is recognised by the International Association of Coaches, Therapists & Mentors (IACTM) under Synodeo's accredited-trainer status. Your diploma may carry the IACTM logo, and once you graduate you may apply in your own right for the corresponding IACTM accreditation: Therapist / Counsellor.

An accreditation qualifies a programme; it is not a State approval, and it is distinct from the certification of your competencies, which your Synodeo diploma attests. It situates the training against the shared standards of the profession.

This programme is also an IHA Approved Course (International Hypnosis Association): the IHA approves the course, and once qualified you may apply individually for your IHA certification (Certified Hypnotist / Hypnotherapist). The IHA logo attests to the course approval; in line with IHA rules, it does not appear on the Synodeo diploma itself.
